Short answer: AdSpy charges one flat $149 per month for unmetered access to Facebook and Instagram ads only (adspy.com, checked 2026-08-10). Almost every cheaper alternative buys the discount back with a meter — credits, AI-analysis caps or seats. Pick by which trade you can live with.
- You want more networks for less, and a card-free look first → WinningHunter, from $49/month, covering Meta, TikTok, Pinterest and Shopify stores.
- You want Meta plus shop data and can live with monthly caps → Minea, at $49 / $99 / $199 per month.
- TikTok is where your category actually moves → PiPiADS, metered in credits, from $69 list / $49 promoted.
- You need a swipe file rather than a search box → Foreplay, from $59/month with a 7-day card-free trial.
- You want the cheapest possible seat → Dropispy or BigSpy — both cheaper than AdSpy, and neither would show us a price today.
- You want to spend nothing → the Meta Ad Library, which every paid Meta index reads from.
- You sell on Amazon and want Amazon ad data → none of these index Amazon Sponsored Products. Skip to the section on that.
Every price below comes from the vendor’s own page on the date shown. How we score tools is documented on the scorecard methodology page.
What AdSpy actually charges, and what it covers
AdSpy sells one plan. Its homepage states “We offer virtually unlimited usage for just $149 per month!” and adds that this is “an introductory offer and will not be the same for long” (adspy.com, checked 2026-08-10). There is no entry tier, no credit balance, and no free trial or money-back guarantee advertised on that page.
The database claims are specific: “208,416,000+” ads from “29,919,000+” advertisers across “225 Countries”, described as “the largest searchable database of Facebook and Instagram ads in the world” (adspy.com, checked 2026-08-10). Search runs on ad text, URL and page name, on reactions inside ad comments, and on affiliate-side filters — “affiliate network, affiliate ID, Offer ID, landing page technologies”.
That last group is the thing most alternatives do not replicate. AdSpy is built for affiliate and direct-response marketers who need to trace an offer, not just admire a creative. Two networks, one price, deep filters. Everything below trades some of that depth for either breadth or a lower invoice.
Three reasons sellers leave AdSpy
1. $149 with no trial is a blind purchase. You cannot look inside before paying. WinningHunter, Foreplay and Dropispy all let you see something before a card is charged, and that alone moves a lot of searches.
2. It does not index TikTok. Facebook and Instagram are the whole surface. If your category moves on TikTok creative, no amount of Meta depth fixes that.
3. Users question the depth they are paying for. Our review corpus for AdSpy is thin and dated — seven public Trustpilot reviews, all between 2020-12-28 and 2022-08-31, with nothing recent. That is not enough to characterise the product in 2026, so read these as historical complaints rather than a current verdict. The recurring themes: library size, freshness and billing.
One 2-star reviewer wrote: “Their ad library is quite small Compared to its competitors.” (Trustpilot, 2022-08-31). A longer 1-star review objected to result diversity: “the same advertisers show in results (duplicates), not all advertisers are shown - appears to be more of the same favorites” (Trustpilot, 2020-12-28). Speed drew its own nickname: “This app is so slow to load takes too long to see the ads even if you have a strong internet its too slow i call this a snailspy!” (Trustpilot, 2021-11-09). And on billing: “I canceled subscription at 7;30 [sic] pm and my card got charged 2 hours later.” (Trustpilot, 2022-01-30).
These are unverified user reports on a public review platform, from a period when the product and its database were several years younger.

WinningHunter: the broadest swap at a third of the price
WinningHunter is the tool that dominates search results for this query, and the pitch is straightforward arithmetic: more networks, less money. Its plans are Basic $49, Standard $79 and Enterprise $249 per month, with the site advertising 15% off quarterly and 40% off yearly billing (winninghunter.com, checked 2026-08-10). Standard is labelled “The most efficient, money saving plan”.
Coverage is where it separates from AdSpy: Meta ads and post ads, TikTok Ads and TikTok Shop, Pinterest ads, and Shopify store tracking in one subscription. Its published volume claims are “300M+ ads” and “5M+ stores”, with daily intake given as “500k+” Facebook ads, “100k+” TikTok ads, “20k+” Pinterest ads and “50k+” new stores tracked (winninghunter.com, checked 2026-08-10).
It also removes the blind-purchase problem. The site’s call to action reads “Start searching - Its free! No credit card required” (checked 2026-08-10), so you can test result quality on your own product before committing.
The honest caveat: a raw ad count is not a like-for-like measure against AdSpy’s 208 million, because the two count different networks over different retention windows. Breadth is verifiable; the affiliate-tracing depth AdSpy sells is not something WinningHunter’s public pages claim to match.
Minea and PiPiADS: more networks, but the meter comes back
Minea prices at Starter $49, Premium $99 and Business $199 per month, quoted at $39, $79 and $158 on quarterly billing (minea.com, checked 2026-08-10). The meter is monthly quota rather than credits: AI Analysis and AI Transcript are capped at 10 each per month on Starter, 50 each on Premium, and unlimited on Business.
One detail worth checking before you switch for network coverage. Minea’s pricing page on 2026-08-10 lists “All Facebook ads” and “All influencer product placements” as what the platform monitors, with “Snapchat, Pinterest, TikTok ads (coming soon)” alongside — wording that reads as not-yet-shipped, even though TikTok coverage appears in Minea’s wider marketing and in our own earlier check. If TikTok is the reason you are leaving AdSpy, confirm it on the plan you are actually buying. Our Minea review covers what the Starter tier leaves out, and Minea alternatives compares the rest of that shortlist.
PiPiADS is the TikTok-first option. Its current “2.0v” plans run Basic $69 list / $49 promoted with 30,000 credits, Advanced $159 / $99 with 100,000 credits, and an Enterprise tier at $1,999 / $900 (pipiads.com, checked 2026-08-09). The rate card is the part to read: “Cost 1 credits / data” and “Cost 20 credits / detail”, so opening a full ad detail costs twenty times listing it. That is precisely the mechanic AdSpy’s flat plan removes. Our PiPiADS alternatives comparison documents the two membership generations behind its confusing price history.
Dropispy and BigSpy: the cheap seats we could not price today
Dropispy is the cheapest serious entry into Meta ad spying. Its site lists a Free tier at $0.00/month, Premium at $29.90/month with 150,000 credits ($14.90/month on the annual column) and Business at $249.90/month with 1,800,000 credits (dropispy.com, checked 2026-08-08). Its tiers sit behind a client-side route — dropispy.com/pricing returned HTTP 404 to our request on 2026-08-10 — so treat those figures as of their check date, not today’s. The Dropispy review has the detail, including what the free tier withholds.
BigSpy publishes the widest network list of anything here, naming Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, AdMob, Yahoo and Unity (bigspy.com, checked 2026-08-08). Its pricing table renders client-side and bigspy.com/price returned HTTP 404 to our request on 2026-08-10, so we are not publishing a BigSpy number we could not read on its own page. Third-party sites report an entry tier near $9/month; we could not confirm it. Our BigSpy alternatives comparison approaches the same shelf from the cross-network angle.
Foreplay: a swipe file, not a search box
If your complaint about AdSpy is that you keep finding ads and then losing them, the answer is not a bigger database. Foreplay is built for saving ads into a library, grouping them into briefs and tracking brands over time.
Pricing is Basic $59/month (1 user, $20 per additional), Workflow $175/month (up to 5 users), Agency $459/month (up to 10 users) and a custom Enterprise tier, with annual billing at $49, $149 and $389 per month. A 7-day free trial is advertised with “No credit card required”, plus a “14-day money back guarantee” after the first charge (foreplay.co, checked 2026-08-10).
Its named sources tell you what it is: Meta Ad Library, Instagram Organic, TikTok Ad Library & Top Ads, TikTok Organic, LinkedIn Ad Library, YouTube Shorts and Google Transparency Center marked “Coming Soon” (foreplay.co, checked 2026-08-10). That makes Foreplay largely an interface over the platforms’ own public libraries — current data, organised well, but not the place to dig up an offer that stopped running two years ago. On that specific job, AdSpy’s archive is the stronger tool.
The free layer AdSpy is priced against
Meta publishes a public ad library covering ads running across its apps. It is free, requires no subscription, and is the source that every paid Meta index reads from — which means no third-party tool can be fresher than it, only better organised.
What you give up by staying free is structure: no cross-network view, no saved swipe files, no filtering by estimated spend, no affiliate-network filters, and no way to search by the landing-page technology behind an offer. Those absences are exactly the product AdSpy sells at $149.
So the honest test before replacing AdSpy with anything is an hour in the free library first, on your own category. If that hour produces the creative angles you needed, the $29–$149 a month is buying convenience. If you hit a wall you can name — cannot sort, cannot save, cannot trace the offer — that named wall tells you which of the tools above to trial.
“AdSpy” also means something else on Amazon
Two unrelated things share this name, and search results mix them freely. AdSpy.com is the Meta ad database described above. Ad Spy is also the name of a feature inside SmartScout, an Amazon-native tool. If you arrived here as an Amazon seller, you may want the second one.
The distinction matters at the invoice. SmartScout prices at $29 Basic / $97 Essentials / $187 Business per month, or $25 / $75 / $158 billed annually, plus a custom Enterprise tier (smartscout.com, checked 2026-08-02). But its plan comparison table places Search Terms Ad Spy on the Enterprise tier only, and the $187 Business card lists no Ad Spy feature at all. Competitor Ad Data and Competitor Ad Spend sit on that same Enterprise card. Budgeting $187 for Amazon competitor ad data does not work. Our SmartScout alternatives comparison covers cheaper routes to the non-ad parts of that dataset.
The broader point for Amazon sellers: AdSpy, WinningHunter, Minea, PiPiADS, Dropispy, BigSpy and Foreplay all index social ads. None of them see Amazon Sponsored Products. Where they do pay off is external traffic — finding a creative angle on Meta or TikTok and running it to a listing. Our guide to Amazon and TikTok advertising covers that campaign side, and the product research workflow hub collects the Amazon-native tools.
One adjacent tool worth naming, because ad research usually ends in a creative brief: ASINCrate is a Chrome extension that bulk-downloads a competitor’s Amazon listing images and video into a ZIP with hi-res originals and CSV metadata. It works only on Amazon product detail pages, never on ad libraries. Single-image download and URL copy work without an account; bulk ZIP, CSV export and unlimited video downloads sit on its Pro plan at $9.99/month, or $49.99 billed annually (asincrate.com, checked 2026-07-27).
How to switch without paying twice
- Name the reason before you shop. Price, TikTok, or depth. Each points at a different tool, and the tool that fixes price rarely fixes depth.
- Use the card-free entries first. WinningHunter advertises free searching with no credit card, and Foreplay a 7-day card-free trial (both checked 2026-08-10). Run the same query in both before you cancel anything.
- Run one identical search in three places — the free Meta Ad Library, AdSpy, and your candidate — using your best-performing product as the term. Compare result count, duplicate rate and date range, not interface polish.
- Read the meter in week one. On any credit-metered replacement, do a normal research session and check the balance afterwards. Moving from a flat plan to a metered one is where switching costs hide: on PiPiADS Basic’s published rates, twenty detail views cost about 400 credits against a 30,000-credit monthly allowance, so the real question is how many such sessions your week contains. That is arithmetic to run on your own workflow, not a figure we have measured on a paid seat.
- Export before you cancel. Anything you saved inside AdSpy leaves with the subscription. There is no portability standard in this category.
FAQ
Is there a free AdSpy alternative? Yes, two kinds. The Meta Ad Library is free and is the source paid Meta indexes read from. Among commercial tools, Dropispy lists a Free tier at $0.00/month (dropispy.com, checked 2026-08-08), and WinningHunter advertises “Start searching - Its free! No credit card required” (winninghunter.com, checked 2026-08-10).
What is the cheapest AdSpy alternative that also covers TikTok? WinningHunter at $49/month covers TikTok Ads and TikTok Shop alongside Meta (winninghunter.com, checked 2026-08-10). PiPiADS is TikTok-first from $69 list / $49 promoted but meters in credits (pipiads.com, checked 2026-08-09).
Does AdSpy offer a free trial? No free trial or money-back guarantee is advertised on adspy.com as of 2026-08-10. The single plan is $149 per month, described on the site as “an introductory offer and will not be the same for long”.
Do any of these track Amazon Sponsored Products? No. Every tool compared here indexes social networks. SmartScout carries Amazon competitor ad data, and its comparison table places Search Terms Ad Spy on the Enterprise tier only (smartscout.com, checked 2026-08-02).
